CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE'S STRATEGY ACTION PLAN 2008-11
Delivery on the aims of the 10 year Strategy for Children and Young People is being taken forward by the development of Children and Young People's Strategy Action Plans.
The first action plan covered the period 2007-2008 and following a review of this, a new 3 year action plan has been developed. This sets out what will be done by all eleven Northern Ireland departments, the Northern Ireland office and the Northern Ireland Court Service to deliver improved outcomes for all children and young people here.
The new 3 year Strategy Action Plan covers the period 2008-2011 and it has been agreed that it will be a living document open to review and amendment. A key part of this review will be focused on the UNCRC concluding observations 2008.
We have been working closely with Participation Network to develop a process of engagement with children and young people in order to seek their views on how the 3 year action plan can be improved by identifying any gaps or additional issues that affect them. We want young people to tell us what they think and whether we are doing the right things.
Young people's versions of both the 3 year Children and Young People's Strategy Action Plan and the UNCRC Concluding Observations 2008 have been developed for use during this engagement process:
Further information about the consultation process to be carried out with children and young people and information on how to take part can be obtained on the Participation Network website:
